Stay At Home Moms sacrifice a lot to be with their kids. The biggest struggle is identity of self. We get lost in the baby diaper changing and transportation of kids to activities that we lose time for us. Having something to do on the side can help with practicing conversing with adults, expanding our minds and feeling challenged and having friends. Many moms sell products or have a part time night job. Others found a hobby to help expand their brain from baby talk and singing the ABCs to creativity and using big words.
There are so many products and companies available and continue to grow in variety and opportunity. If you are looking for a side job, identify something that you are passionate about and find a product you believe in. There are many MLM groups and products that can potentially make you money, but you have to work for it. Some require money in to get involved, others require you to use the product on a regular basis and others require you to have inventory. If you know someone that already sells the MLM product you are interested in, I would suggest signing up with them so you have the support already established to get started. Some moms also used their creative side and make signs, t-shirts, homemade skin care products, jewelry, etc. and sell them on Pinterest , Etsy.com, or Amazon or just to friends through Facebook.
Non-Core teaching jobs are also in need. For example: reading specialist, technology teacher, PE teacher, art teacher, speech pathologist, psychologist, counselor, etc. You can also teach English online to Chinese students for good pay at VipKid.com. You do not need a teaching credential but you do need a bachelor’s degree. You can find opportunities through local schools or community centers Some companies, like Blue Shield, hire people to work from home and only come into the office once a week. Other companies hire you for the call center, like Amazon. All you need is a phone and a computer. Trade jobs are also in need like electrician, plumber, and things like putting in play structures. Another potential job is a freelance court reporter. You have flexible hours, ability to travel if you want to, and you can negotiate your pay. Some new companies like Lyft and Uber are now possibilities to make some extra cash. Being a nanny is also a very rewarding and high paying job, some have also expanded this to include homeschooling their kids and other people’s kids for a monthly rate during the day. Creating a home cleaning service or dog sitting service is an easy way to make some extra cash. Be a janitor, fitness instructor, front desk helper or childcare worker at a local gym and you can bring your kids with you! Another random job that sounds fun is a Fit Specialist for Natori, being a traveling bra fitter. Majority of women do not have the right size bra, according to some reports. If you are computer savvy, you can connect with Moonlighting or Fancy Hands to find clients to work for. You can also network locally to promote your computer skills and do tasks for others. Think outside the box and be creative!
If you are not sure what direction to go, there are resources like the Meyers Briggs quizzes, Strengthsfinder Assessment, and speaking with a career counselor. You can go to a local college and speak with one for free. You can also find workshops, to help you learn how to focus interests, identify your passion, and find a job that matches you. An excellent resource to learn more about MLMs and how to be successful is the book, “Get Over Your Damn Self” if you are looking to do Direct Sales.
